Monday, June 26, special meeting for induction of Don Saracen as club president begins with champagne reception at 11:30 am. Lunch as usual at 12:15.
 
No meeting week of July 3!
 
INSPIRATION
Past President Bill DiBiasio spoke of what it means to be a Rotarian, the thousands of members throughout the world and how we live by our Four Way Test. He praised Anthony for his dedication and contribution during his presidency.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS, Etc.
President Anthony reported for the Wellness Committee that George Burman had surgery. Geoff Gaunt suffered a serious chemical burn on his wrist and is going to Boston for surgery. Reverend Ralph Barlow’s wife has been recently placed in hospice care (Update – as you’ve heard, Evone passed away and a memorial service will be held at a later date).
 
Phyllis Fern was at the meeting after a long recovery. We are happy to have her back. Anthony surprised Phyllis with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
 
 
Kris David who attended the Atlanta Rotary Conference brought back a Nigerian Rotary banner for Anthony.
 
President Anthony announced that our Paul Harris Committee has chosen five members of our club to receive the "Paul Harris Fellow" award. They are being recognized for all of their dedication and contributions to the Rotary Club of Providence. The following were presented with this prestigious award:
Walter Adamowicz
Richard Applebaum
Christy Clausen
Mike Kelly
Bob Murphy
 
Bob Morse and Cy Wyche both received a Paul Harris as a result of their generous donations of more than $1000 to Rotary International.
PDG Kris David awards Paul Harris Fellow pins to Bob Murphy, Christy Clausen, Bob Morse and Richard Applebaum.
 
Kris David was recognized as a "Major Donor" (over $10,000) to Rotary International.
 
Art Norwalk received the "Avenues of Service Citation for Individual Rotarians", also from Rotary International.
 
Cy Wyche announced that he is moving to New Hampshire and Pamela Kuehl said she is moving to Georgia.
 
About a dozen club members, Interactors and friends turned out to continue painting at the Kizirian School Saturday morning. Second phase of our work (interior hallway doors and lobby mural) is nearly complete. First phase included painting outside doors and restoring front plantings (thanks Mike Kelly, Mary Norwalk & Jane Kratsch).
 
  
 
HAPPY BUCKS
Collector Pete Brock gave three happy bucks for “Winter has turned into Summer”, a wonderful Father’s and Grandfather’s day, and Saturday’s event for The Patriots Alumni Association event at Classical High School with the support of our foundation.
 
Wendy Marcus gave a buck because she is Happy to be standing by Cy Wyche.
 
Cy Wyche gave $20 Happy Bucks because he is happy.
 
Walter Adamowicz gave a buck for sadness because his long time friend, Cy will be moving to New Hampshire the next day.
 
Mike Kelly gave a Happy Buck to Cy for his World War II bravery as a bombardier.
 
Bill DiBiasio gave 2 happy bucks, one for Power Ball, the other to Anthony for a wonderful presidency.
 
Jane Kratsch gave $10 Happy Bucks for Anthony as a special light in this organization. A buck for Joan Baez who gave an incredible concert at Tanglewood and $5 for Mike Kelly.
 
Tiffany Bumgardner gave a Happy Buck for her mother who was recently diagnosed with leukemia, has received treatment and soon a bone marrow transplant. She feels confident that her mother will make a full recovery.
 
Mary Brewster gave a Happy Buck for a wonderful week she spent with her daughter who was home from Japan.
 
Jim Gilcreast gave a Happy Buck for all the Paul Harris recipients. He also asked everyone to stand who has received a Paul Harris Award.
 
Barbara Harris gave a Happy Buck for all the Paul Harris honorees and thanked Anthony who set the bar high as club president.
 
Barry Fain gave Happy Bucks for (1) Walter and Bob, card carrying members of the Book Club (2) Proud of the 7 people who received Paul Harris Awards (3) Miss playing Golf with Cy (4) Best weekend in New York taking care of his grandson.
 
Richard Applebaum gave Happy Bucks to congratulate the Paul Harris recipients, lucky to have Kris David in our club, for Anthony for his tenure as President, the great time he had at the Atlanta conference and for everyone to be sure to check out the Rotary International website.
 
Bintou Chatterton gave 5 Happy Bucks for being at the meeting.
 
Bob Morse gave 10 Happy Bucks for his newest granddaughter named Stella Morse!
 
Phyllis Fern gave a Happy Buck to Anthony!!
 
Kris David gave a Happy Buck for Cy Wyche.
 
Art Norwalk gave Happy Bucks for Anthony’s great leadership and thank you to Cy Wyche.
 
Don Saracen gave a Happy Buck as a tribute to Cy Wyche and to Anthony who did a wonderful job as President who always signed his many emails, “Your Favorite President” Also he thanked Anthony for agreeing to serve as the co-chair of the Membership Committee.
 
President Anthony gave $20 Happy Bucks to congratulate Cy Wyche, a thank you to our late member Jim Black for convincing him to join Rotary, thanking Pamela Kuehl for her artistic contributions to the club and wishing her well as she leaves RI., to his brother who had encouraging news about a recent illness, and to Christy Clausen for her work with the RYLA group.
 
ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP
President Anthony asked Christy Clausen to speak to us about her community work with RYLA -- Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. She talked about the incredible weekend event organized by high school student leaders. There were 180 kids in attendance with many activities to help with self understanding, team building, building a flag, board breaking, outdoor activities, overnight camping experience, community building and service projects, and making long lasting friendships!! Lastly, Christy thanked Rotary for sending three kids to camp!!
 
Christy also announced an event called Eat, Play, Learn with Summer Kick-off event on Wednesday, June 28 from 11am to 1:00 pm at Dexter Training Ground at 73 Dexter Street, Providence. See more about this program by visiting eatplaylearnpvd.com.
