Providence Rotary Charities Foundation Grants $65,000
to 32 area non-profits serving children

Last week's meeting was an annual Providence Rotary highlight: the day our Charities Foundation distributes grants to dozens of local non profits to help support educational, health, social and other beneficial activities for young people in and around Providence. The photo above shows representatives of the 32 agencies receiving a total of $65,000.

These grants that make a real difference in the lives of needy children and teens would not be possible without the ongoing support by members of our club. The money comes from your dollars in the gold bowls, annual giving, support for the Street Painting Festival and other events and recruitment of new members to keep it all going into the future.
Eat Cheap With Interact

The Interact Club has been busy fundraising for their service project, a purse and backpack care package giveaway as well a homelessness awareness event. They want to shine a light on the homelessness issue in the city of Providence.

Left: Adviser Christy Clausen talks up Interact with potential
new members. Right, servers dish up donated dinners.

The Eat Cheap night not only added some funds, it was also a way to update Rotarians about what they are doing in a relaxed, social setting. To make the event successful, the teens went out into the community to secure some sponsors and donations of raffle items. Flatbread Providence and Wes's Rib House generously supplied the food and Rotarians came in for $10/head to mingle and show support.

Brittany Mendoza, sophomore at Classical High School, gave a brief overview of her experience at RYLA and then updated everyone on their service project plans. Stay tuned for more details, you will all be invited!
