Pres-elect Kris David presided with Pres Steve observing via Zoom while visiting family in Virginia.
PLEDGE
Anthony Hollingshead led us in the pledge.
INSPIRATION
New member Jonathan Kaufman gave us this inspiration.
On the week of Thanksgiving, it can be easy to find inspiration from the holiday by giving thanks for what we have, what we have accomplished, our family, friends, etc.
But for many of us, we have something called a “chosen family”. You may have one and not even know what it’s called. So what is a chosen family? It’s more than just friends, it’s more than close friends. It’s the people we’ve intentionally chosen to love, embrace, support, nurture and be present….maybe even closer than your brother or sister.
The recent shooting in Colorado Springs is a reminder how important safe spaces are and how important our chosen family is. It’s where we feel free to let our guard down and be who we are, no matter who we are or what we believe in.
This week, I’m inspired by the members of my chosen family who allow me to do just that and I’ll make sure to give an extra hug too.
The point is that as we go into Thanksgiving we should all take a moment to recognize who our chosen family is and how important they are to our lives.
ANNOUNCEMENTS, Etc.

Welcome to visiting Rotarian Lynn Shaver from the Anchorage East Club in Alaska, visiting her son and daughter attending college in Providence. Pres. Kris gave her one of our flags and she promised to return the favor on her next visit, possibly next month.
Jim Gilcreast reported via Zoom that he's on the mend after an extended hospital stay for hip replacement surgery.
Pres. Kris reported that PP Ken Conde and husband Bill David are doing well after their surgeries -- and extended good wishes for continued recovery to Margaret Kane so we can look forward to her famous popcorn turkey recipe next year.
Bob Murphy sent a reminder for members to attend the Dec. 6 meeting when we will host the boys from San Miguel for a holiday party.
Save the Date: Dec. 15, 4:00-7:00 pm, for the club's holiday party at the Coale reception center in Swan Point Cemetery. We're all instructed to wear Ugly Sweaters, the uglier the better. Decorations to advance the ugliness are permitted. (This should be fun!)
HAPPY BUCKS
- PP Mike Kelly led off the collection with his happiness for the friendships and service projects of Rotary.
- PP Anthony Hollingshead gave a buck to note that "Thanksgiving isn't the same without Margaret,"
- Jim Gilcreast thanked the club for flowers sent to his home.
- Mary Brewster noted that husband Rob's father (recently deceased) and grandfather were both Rotarians.
HOLIDAY TRIVIA
In lieu of a speaker, we enjoyed two rounds of Thanksgiving Trivia.
