Inspiration – Rob Black
Rob shared Groucho Marx’s quote: “I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.”

Speaker
Steve Hug introduced our speaker, Katie Aubin who is the head of Youth Services at the Providence Public Library. In 2019, Katie was named RI After School Educator of the Year. Today, she shared with us what the library has to offer for children, teens and adults.
The Providence Public Library offers so much more than just book collections for all ages. For children there is a play room, a computer room, story time, mentoring by Brown University students, and the Your Creators Series with workshops on music, art, gardening, cooking and more.
Teen programs include in-space tech lending of iPads, laptops, etc., drop-in programs, tutoring, art supplies, and more; with the focus on developing work readiness, critical thinking, and career development. They can also engage in semester long programs to learn programing and coding, and get an introduction to computer hardware for IT/Technical support.
The Workshop is a new space for all ages with drop-in hours, family nights, a sound studio, and so much more.
All in all, incredibly impressive and not your library of yesterday! To learn more about the offerings of the Providence Public Library go to
