Last Meeting's Report

Meeting Date:  September 3, 2024

Reporter:  Dave Hamel

Inspiration

Jane Berkowitz in honor of this year’s legends for literacy gala, she gave some Children’s Literacy insights
  • Katherine Patterson – It’s not enough to simply teach children to read, we have to give them something worth reading, something what will stretch their imaginations.
  • Jacqueline Kennedy - There are many ways to enlarge your child’s world, love of books is the best of all.
  • Victor Hugo - To learn to read is to light a fire. Every syllable that is spelled is a spark.
  • Dr. Seuss - The more you read the more things you will know, the more that you learn the more places you’ll go.

Birthdays

Liz Messier gave the birthdays for club members.
During August and September Jane, Don, Liz, and George are growing a year older
Growing older is a journey everyone embarks on bringing with it a blend of experiences challenges and rewards. Though often viewed through a lens of negativity there are many positive aspects that come with it. Embrace the wisdom, self-assurance, strong relationships, and opportunities for growth that come with age. I cherish the strong lasting relationships by being an active part of the Rotarian community.

Kizirian School Supply Project

Mary Brewster reminds us to help at our September 17th Meeting.

The club will be packing up school
supplies to support the students at Kizirian Elementary School in Providence. After the boxes are packed, we will load them into cars and deliver them to the school. This will help students and their teachers so that they have the basic supplies to succeed in school.

We need your help on the 17th to make this a great service project.
