Speaker

Our District Governor, Nicole Brien told us that she was not your typical Governor. She doesn’t like standing behind a podium. She walked around the room to engage us all. She appreciates that every club is different. She admires all our efforts and our passion of our club. What you do in your community, unites us. Rotary International got rid of the yearly theme, and decided to focus on our branding and our message.
Rotary should not be an obligation, it should be fun! She shared a story about a desperate call she received about a 17 year old Youth Exchange Columbian student who was stranded in an airport in Florida. She was able to find someone through connections she made when she was at a Rotary event in Columbia, to pick her up for the night and deliver her back to the airport the next day safely. That’s the power of Rotary, making significant connections with fellow Rotarians! Nicole asked what can the district do for Providence.
She delivered a Rotary Club Challenge to unite, participate and win. Our mission is to attend 5 district events throughout the year. Unite for Purpose (Together we succeed) on September 13, Foundation Luncheon on November 15. Mid-Year Recap/PrePels, January 31, District Assembly in April and District Conference in May. The Challenge Rules are Minimum 10% club member attendance at each event, Members can rotate-no need for the same attendees each time, clubs that meet the challenge, unlock a chance to win Rotary branded jackets for our members.
Also wear the badge of purpose. Stand out and show off your club pride with official jackets that honor your commitment to service!
