INSPIRATION
Christy Clausen offered an inspiring positive note in response to the recent tragic shooting death of William Parsons, a student at Central High School in Providence. A 15 year old member of the Providence Rotary Interact Club described how the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self" can be implemented in many ways, large and small, leading to a better world.

STORIES FROM THE BROCK FAMILY
Rising to the occasion on very short notice, Pete Brock entertained and inspired us with stories about his family and a few comments on his 12 year career with the New England Patriots.
Pete grew up in Oregon in a family in which he had 4 brothers and 3 sisters. He and 3 of his brothers played in the NFL. His other brother, Joe, was born with a disability which he overcame with a tremendous work effort. He went on to a 40 year career with the Nike Co. in Oregon and in 2014 he was named employee of the year for the worldwide corporation by Nike President Phil Knight who designated the annual award to be henceforth known as the Joe Brock Employee Of The Year Award.
Pete spoke at some length on the issue of concussions to NFL players, saying new equipment is not the issue as much as proper tackling and blocking technique is, advising that these techniques must be taught and implemented for real progress to be made.
