INSPIRATION -- Liz Messier
As we approach the reopening of Rhode Island, the following quote from Vivien Green seemed so appropriate:

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning to dance in the rain."

So, in the days ahead and throughout the phases of reopening, be cautious, be patient, be wise and most importantly, be thoughtful of others.

ANNOUNCEMENTS, Etc.
The Marriott cannot accommodate live meetings throughout the month of June due to Covid requirements so Zoom meetings will continue during this time. More info will be forthcoming about when we will meet in-person again.

At tomorrow’s meeting (May 11), RI Lt. Governor Dan Mc Kee will discuss what is being done to help small business in RI get through the pandemic crisis. He is on a tight schedule and will begin speaking promptly at noon so please join us a few minutes early to catch the full presentation.

FEDERAL RESPONSE TO
THE Covid-19 PANDEMIC
U. S. Representative David Cicilline joined us to provide an update on what Congress is doing in response to Covid-19.

He took us through the aid packages already passed including the first bill on 3/6 for $8.3 billion which was intended for the health system and vaccine research. Two weeks later a second relief package passed and on 4/4 the $2.3 trillion major relief package was passed and included extended unemployment benefits as well as initial relief for small business. Last week an additional $250 billion was passed to bolster the PPP (Payroll Protection Plan) and provide for a nationwide testing strategy and $75 billion directed toward hospitals.

The congressman believes that additional help will be needed in these unprecedented times.
