A great sendoff for a great Rotarian as dozens of club members and friends formed an Honor Guard for Jerry Cannon's calling hours Friday and funeral Saturday.
A disturbing setback has been reported in the battle to eradicate polio, as two new cases have been found in Nigeria. This development comes as Africa was on the verge of being declared polio-free. A massive immunization campaign to halt the spread of the outbreak will begin as soon as this week. The head of Rotary's Polio efforts in Nigeria, Dr. Tunji Funsho, says the country's military has recently cleared Islamist forces from the affected area, making it more accessible to health workers.
This would be a good time to donate to the Polio Plus campaign of The Rotary Foundation. You can do it here.
