Past President, Paul Borrelli gave the inspiration.
Paul shared memories with us such as working with Johnnie Ray who wrote Cry, Walking in the Rain to name a few. One day, he met with Ray for lunch, and he handed me the phone and said, "Say Hi." The person on the phone, said, "Hi Paul, I am Judy Garland!" Johnnie Ray was best friends with Judy and talked to her every day.
Another story is that Chuck Berry wanted to be paid in cash in a paper bag. Paul has been in the entertainment business over the past 65 years.

Speaker

Bill Introduced our speaker, Ryan Hagerman, District Executive of the Narragansett Council of Scouting America. Narragansett Council, Scouting America serves over 5,000 youth ages 5-17 annually in Southeastern New England.
Their Scouts learn about character, leadership, community service, citizenship, and the great outdoors. Lifelong memories are made at legacy camping properties around Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts, including the famed Camp Yawgoog (founded in 19116). Ryan Hagerman is the Northwest District Executive and supports Narragansett's Cub Scout Packs, Scouts BSA Troops (formerly Boy Scouts), and Exploring Posts in Providence County and the Blackstone River Valley.
He also advises the National Youth Leadership Training program and the Jewish Committee on Scouting. Ryan is an Eagle Scout and graduate of Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. He recently joined the New England cohort of the ADL's Glass Leadership Institute and is a member of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce.
Ryan stated that they are now called Scouting America to better reflect our values with inclusion of girls into the organization which is 60% boys and 40% girls. They serve 7000 youth in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.
Their goal is to teach youth to be the best version of themselves as adults. In partnership with Providence Schools, they work with youth throughout Providence in after-school programs with no financial barrios, growth. and demand. Ten million pounds of food was collected to support local food banks. In 2024, they gave more than nine thousand hours of service.
