Well, last week's meeting turned out to be a snow job, but there are a few things we can talk about anyway.
First, the Providence Rotary Paint-off coming up on Wednesday, April 6. It's a great opportunity for fellowship, fun, food and, yes, fundraising for our charities foundation. Click on over to www.ProvidenceRotary.org right now and reserve your admission. (Or take a minute first to invite some friends and then reserve a bunch of tickets.) You'll watch some of the Providence area's top artists create new paintings before your eyes as you enjoy complimentary food from Julian's and wines from Nikki's. Bid on some exciting donated Silent Auction items, then take your shot to Buy Before the Paint is Dry (or just enjoy the action as a spectator) as high rollers bid to own the brand new original artwork.
Upcoming items of interest from last week's meeting of the club board:
Easy Payment Plan. After months of planning, the club will soon offer an optional plan for automatic monthly credit card payment of annual dues and lunch assessment. Automatic payment means you won't lose or forget a bill. Monthly payment means the bite will be smaller each time. Stay tuned for details.
Rotary monument at Roger Williams Park. Led by PP Bill DiBiasio and George Burman, plans are advancing rapidly to design and build a new Rotary marker in a prominent position near the Museum of Natural History at Roger Williams Park.
Paint-up, Fix-up at Kizirian School. In response to the overwhelming desire expressed by members in the recent online survey for more hands-on service opportunities, Mary Brewster, Art Norwalk and Terri Adelman have identified a need for painting and other fix-up projects at the Harry Kizirian Elementary School on Smith Hill. Parts of the work will be within the capabilities of many members, cash cost is negligible, and the need falls within the club's major service targets of youth and education.
