If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;

ONLINE CLUB MEETING APRIL 13
Providence Rotary will hold its first online meeting on Monday, April 13, from 12 noon to about 12:45. We’ll be using the popular Zoom platform and login instructions will be emailed to you later in the week.
Our guest speaker will be Mary Cheyne, 1st Runner Up in the 2009 World Champion Public Speaking competition. Her good friend Don Saracen promises that she’s bright, articulate and has a sense of humor.
If you haven’t used Zoom before,
click here for a short video that will show you how to get started.
Most laptops, tablets and smartphones have everything you’ll need built in; desktop computers may need plug-in cameras and microphones.
You can also take part by calling in by phone. The dial-in number will be on the email, along with a conference number that you’ll need to enter.
HAPPY BUCKS
Margaret Kane
“I have 24 happy bucks - one for each of the mice my exterminator trapped in the last two weeks. Too bad their pelts aren’t valuable - there would be a lot more happy bucks.”
Walter Adamowicz
“Granddaughter/Grandfather serenade. Kayla, who lives near Paris, played her guitar and sang on Skype. I played the piano and did not sing. We plan to continue. We pray all stay well.”
Rob Black
“My happy buck is for my Mom who came home from the hospital today after having pancreatitis.”
Barbara Kennerson
“Two bucks for the joy I have in entertaining a 92-yr old man in my bldg, who is alone, with a lovely prime rib dinner. He has been eating every meal by himself and is thrilled to be coming to my beautiful condo, eat on the lanai overlooking an offshoot of Tampa Bay, and watch a drop-dead sunset. It makes me incredibly happy to be doing this for this lovely man.”
Steve Hug
“I am happy that significant COVID-19 testing is underway.”
Connie Donnelly
“Three restaurants which were VERY generous to the Rotary Gala Silent Auction are now offering curbside pickups: Capital Grille, Fleming’s and Parkside. I have enjoyed two dinners from Capital Grille and will continue to support all 3 restaurants. Rotarians, if you can please try to support these restaurants during a very difficult time, I know it would be greatly appreciated.”
Jim Gilcreast
“I have a buck. I’m happy.”
Inspiration: “If” by Rudyard Kipling:
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!
