Club Assembly
Pete Brock led off the assembly with a short bio of the incoming president of the club.–
"Pete is the proud father of 4 children and 2 stepchildren. He and his wife Emily are now residing in NH. Pete was drafted 12
th overall in the first round of the 1977 draft by the Patriots. He had a stellar college career at the University of Colorado as a dominant offensive lineman. Pete’s core beliefs are rooted in: 1) Teamwork, 2) Integrity. 3) Hard work and 4) Servant-leadership. He shared a story of the ’85 Patriots, in training camp that team identified a goal of winning the Superbowl. Their coach (Raymond Berry) explained to the team what steps they needed to take to accomplish that goal. He informed the team that it won’t be easy, they needed to support each other, be a cohesive team, and work hard. The Patriots went on to make the playoffs, win three
road playoff games …beating the hated Jets, LA Raiders then crushing the Dolphins (31-13) in the AFC Championship game. If it wasn’t for a miraculous comeback by the Chicago Bears in SuperBowl 20, they would have accomplished their goal."
Pete then opened it up to his fellow Rotarians for their input regarding how to improve our Club. Below are a few of the suggestions that were discussed:
- Take steps to re-engage our 75 members to improve meeting attendance.
- Conduct meetings where committee members hold roundtable discussions to create awareness amongst the Club members so they can re-engage and plug in. Circulate a list of Committees, with a brief description and provide clarity regarding how to get involved.
- Commit to bringing in 10 new club members this year.
- Reach out to area companies and educational institutions.
- Hold “Bring a Guest” meetings.
- Support Troylinda Williams in her role as D.E.I. Chair.
- Consider holding meetings at different times of the day which may be more convenient for folks to attend.
- Leverage technology to a greater degree.
- Create, and circulate, a calendar of events.
- Conduct more “Rotary After Dark” events.
