If you're one of the 23 club members* who have committed (as of Sept. 6) to sponsoring the upcoming Legends for Literacy Gala, you have earned the gratitude of teachers and at-risk students in the Providence Public Schools.
What does "at-risk" mean? Students who don't learn to read and comprehend adequately are at much greater risk of failing in school, failing in life and becoming burdens on the community. Today only 16 percent of the city's public school students read at or above grade level -- which represents a true crisis in literacy.
Your sponsorship donation will help purchase innovative literacy teaching materials to help these at-risk students make greater progress toward achieving this most basic life skill.
