INSPIRATION
Jim Gilcreast offered a quote from Doctor Dorothy Height on the value of service:
“Without service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It’s important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It is the way in which we grow and develop.”

HAPPY BUCKS
Margaret Kane, a negative happy buck to say how happy she is that she doesn’t have allergies as the season is particularly bad for those who do!
Jim Gilcreast – He’s happy; and another for the fact that thanks to Facebook he has made contact with an individual he sponsored during the 1980’s for Rotary
Mary Cullen is happy to be back from Florida and looking forward to in person meeting
Holly Applegate – happy that CDC has lifted the mask mandate! Happy to breathe easier, be understood and be seen
Jim Gilcreast – now that the mask is off, he sees an old man in the mirror! His wife confirmed his eyesight is still good!
Kris David – welcome to Alex David, a Rotoracter soon to be Rotarian! Moving to RI next week.
Richard Applebaum to thank Kris and Bill for the get together – didn’t end up doing trivia, but had a great time
NEW SCHOOLS AND CLEAN WATER IN CAMBODIA
Our speaker today was Dr Chris from the Wakefield Rotary Club, where he has been a member since 2006. He is a member of the Water for Cambodia Committee to which he was introduced by the late Gunter Houser, who spearheaded the clean water project in rural Cambodia with its goals of bringing clean water, health and hygiene to local residents.
There are several Rotary clubs working on Global Grant projects in conjunction with the Pursat Rotary Club in Cambodia. Lack of water in the area is NOT the issue, but clean water is -- having no central sewerage system with waste flowing into their bodies of water.
The relationship between clubs is well organized and functioning well. Together with the clubs here in America, they are raising grant dollars to build a school which will benefit 350 students and their families. In addition, projects are in place to bring clean water into nearby households by installing wells and latrines. Completion of the school and related projects is slated to be completed by year end.
Our club’s foundation has contributed $3,000 to the effort.
