Pres. Elect Steve Hug lead the Pledge

Inspiration

Liz Messier inspired focus on the excellent leadership of Holly Applegate. She recalled Emerson's saying: “The only true gift is a portion of yourself,” and this Holly did give.

Guests

DG Billy Roberts, Chris Spear from the Rotary Metro Club.

Happy Bucks:

  • Margaret Kane: $1 for Holly’s tremendous leadership
  • Kris David: $5 for DG Roberts, who has done so much with this year’ s theme of “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion,” and for Holly’s year and for Bill David who was installed as President of the Providence Metro Club.
  • Anthony Landi gave a buck for the fishing trip to Key West with his son.
  • Rob Black: $1 toast to Holly for whom it was a pleasure to have been the Club Administrator.
  • Bill Applegate:  $22 for how happy is is to be a member and this year ending, and $1 more because after today he will not longer need to address Holly as Madame President!
  • Don Saracen:  $10 for DG Roberts and Holly on her great year.
  • Art Norwalk: $10 allotted $9 for Holly’a great year and $1 for Bill Applegate who as taken over from him the newsletter production.
  • Steve Hug: gave a buck for Holly’s accomplishments and thanking her for training him for the job.
  • DG Roberts: $5 from himself and his wife to honor Holly for her excellent year of service to the community.

Announcements:

The stuffed animals that our club collected and sent to the Rotary Club of Uvalde, TX was gratefully received. Uvalde Rotary Club President Roberta Walden connected by Zoom to visually walk us through the Uvalde memorial site for the lost lives. It was very moving and we were pleased to learn that the children smiled when receiving our stuffed animals.
 
The DG Roberts then proceeded to honor certain club members and the club itself with many awards:
Liz Messier, Mary Brewster, Anthony Landi, Pete Brock, Kris David, Steve Hug, Art Norwalk, and Jim Gilcreast were honored for their community and club service. 
 
Additional awardees were the clubs newest members, Evan Smith, Margaret Rizzuto, and Bill Applegate for their appreciating Rotary’s mission.
 
Holly Applegate received an award for her exemplary service as President of the Providence Club.
 
And the Providence Rotary Club received several awards, for overseas service, literacy ,for new member growth, and general community service.
 
Following the DG Roberts presenting awards, President Holly presented her own “Presidential “ awards and thank yous to several Rotarians:
  • DG Roberts for support
  • Steve Hug who was helpful in so many ways and especially getting great speakers
  • Kris David for meritorious service.
  • Pete Loescher serving as chair of Past Presidents committee
  • Bob Black for serving as administrator and getting the hybrid meeting to prime time.
  • Art Norwalk PP for services as literacy chair
  • Anthony Hollingshead PP for leading the membership committee and his great help with board meetings.
  • Bill Applegate was her great assistant without whom she couldn’t have done as much
  • Walter Cotter for organizing the inspirations for the year
  • Don Saracen PP always ready to be a resource and for obtaining sponsors for the Legends of Literacy
  • Anthony Landi for all the club's activities he’s led
  • Randy Ditmar for always doing the work and for service to the Charities Foundation
  • Jan Feyler for chairing the Charities Foundation
  • Margaret Kane for her humor and entertainment as our Happy Bucks leader
  • Mike Kelly for installing Rotary signage throughout Providence
  • Liz Messier for Rotary After Dark events and lighting up the stage
  • Nondas Voll for running the Book Club
  • Barbara Harris for designing and painting the Providence Rotary Club Little Free Library book box.
