Jonathan Kaufman stated he is inspired by Providence honoring Pride Month by hosting The Pride Fest Parade and Celebration on Saturday. This event will be an inspiring celebration of inclusivity and awareness.

President Steve requested a moment of silence to honor our long-time beloved Club member Margaret Kane who passed away this week. No arrangements to honor her passing are known at this time.
On June 17th, the installation of District 7950 officers will be held in Quincy, MA at the Granite Links Golf Club.
Our Club will install our Officers on June 27th at The Squantum Association in East Providence.
President Steve thanked Club members for participating in the Honor Guard at the visitation and memorial service to honor the passing of Mary Lou Ryan, wife of Club member Maury Ryan.
President Steve extended get well wishes on behalf of the Club to Reverend Ralph Barlow.

- Kris David $ 5 for attending Gala fundraiser last week for Bradley Hospital, which gave her some ideas of possible use for our Legends For Literacy Gala.

2023 Grant Distributions
Anthony Landi, Chair of The Providence Rotary Charities Foundation, presided over a ceremony in which checks reflecting grants were presented to representatives of 22 Providence area charities and non-profits to assist them in implementing their service programs. Chair Landi noted that the Foundation has been active for over 60 years. It manages a fund of almost 2 million dollars and over the last 5 years has made almost $450,000 in grants.
The grantees and programs were as follows:
- 134 Collaborative - Out Of School Jam Program;
- Adoption RI - Educational Success Program;
- Camp JORI - Scholarship Assistance For Neediest Children;
- Camp Surefire - Camperships For Children and Youth Living with Type 1 Diabetes;
- Community Boating Center - Eco Adventure Sailing Camp Scholarships;
- Community Prepertory School - Scholarship Sponsor;
- Everett Company Stage And School - After School Performing Arts Classes;
- First Works - Arts Education Program;
- Inspiring Minds - Tutoring and Mentoring Services;
- Junior Achievement of RI - Financial Literacy, Work Readiness, and Entrepreneurship;
- Katie Brown Educational Program - Relationship Violence Prevention Education;
- New Urban Arts - Youth Mentorship In The Arts Summer Internships;
- Providence Public Library - Summer At Your Library;
- RI Sponsoring Education (RISE) - Mentoring and Wrap Around Supports for Children of Incarcerated Parents;
- Saint Mary’s Home for Children - Summer Learning Program;
- San Miguel School - Registration fees for 20 children to participate in Flag Football Program;
- Save The Bay - Explore The Bay Watershed and STEM Program;
- School One - Intergenerational Arts;
- Sojourner House - Camp Eureka summer camp for children who have witnessed violence in their homes;
- Southside Community Land Trust - Summer Youth Employment;
- Stages Of Freedom - Swim Empowerment;
- and The Manton Avenue Project - MAP Summer Program.
To conclude the Grant Distribution ceremony, Victoria Picinich of The Saint Mary’s Home For Children spoke on their programs and their impact on the community.
The School was founded in 1877 and serves children, families and adults with mental health and special needs in both residential and outpatient facilities.
The residential facilities are for children and have a capacity of 37. The total amount of persons benefiting from their programs in a year number over 500. The summer activities aided by the Rotary grant involve both learning presentations and activities such as bowling and swimming.
Docked in Providence
As Bob Watt mentioned at the previous meeting, The Golden Rule made its way to and docked in Providence spreading its message about nuclear disarmament. It was joined by veterans for peace.
