A YEAR LIKE NO OTHER
President Bryan gave a slide presentation to recap his year and to thank the many members who helped make this year possible. Obviously Covid and the shutdown forced us to meet via Zoom. On a positive note it gave us a new way to stay connected. We still had many accomplishments.
We held two diaper drives, participated in the Cambodia Clean Water Project, we also help clean up Benefit Street and had a fun evening with Mary’s trivia night.
He paid respect to members we lost over the past year. Jim Williams, PP Vincent Borelli and PP and Rotarian of the Century Stanley Sorrentino.
Paul Segal leadership of the Foundation support of the Literacy Project committee Chaired by George Babcock led to a $65,000 grant to buy and train all Middle School and Harry Kizirian Elementary School kids on the new MyON Reader program.
Our club was awarded the District Public Service award, Longevity award Rev Barlow 50yrs and Perfect Attendance, Jim Gilcreast 47 yrs.
George Babcock Rotary International Community Service Award. Art Norwalk received the club's first Stanley Sorrentino Rotarian of the Year award.
George Babcock gave thanks for his recognition and support to make Literacy Initiative come true. He is now stepping down handing the chair to his partner in their efforts Art Norwalk.
Bryan concluded by thanking Holly as his partner with meetings and speakers. He also thanked the board and all the members who helped making this year happen in spite of Covid. Ben Hogan Quote: As you walk down the fairway of life you must smell the roses, because you only get to play one round.”
