INSPIRATION
Holly Applegate read some inspiring love quotes as a tribute to Valentine’s Day, including:
“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”
“Love is like the wind; you can’t see it but you can feel it.”
“If I had a flower for every time I thought of you… I could walk through my garden forever.”
 
..and red carnations were handed out in celebration, 
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS, Etc.
President Don announced that the board voted to ask the club foundation to give $5,000 towards those in desperate need in Puerto Rico as a result of the devastating hurricane. It was decided that the donation be given to the Rotary Club of New York because they have boots on the ground providing a relief effort in isolated areas.
 
President Don  asked members for a $5 or $10 contribution to Rotary International for our 113th Anniversary. Kris David will be collecting checks made out to The Rotary Foundation at our meetings starting this week.
 
PP Anthony Hollingshead, membership chair, reminded us about the upcoming, Bring a Guest (BAG) lunch on March 5th. He encouraged all to invite friends and colleagues to the lunch featuring Senator Jack Reed as our speaker. The cost for your guest as a prospective member will be free.
 
Snowbirds: Check out Ron Hoak, Paul Segal, Walter Adamowicz and Mike Kelly and their wives enjoying lunch in sunny Vero Beach.
 
Don also announced the upcoming, Rotary Rocks Plymouth District Conference on May 18-20.
 
 
HAPPY BUCKS
Peter Brock gave a Happy Buck for the wonderful opportunity of driving his daughter and granddaughter to the airport for their trip to Disneyworld. He wishes he could have gone with them so he could see Disney through the eyes of his 5-year-old granddaughter.
 
Jim Gilcreast gave a Happy Buck in jest, about falling in love as he was looking in a mirror.
 
Bob Murphy gave a Happy Buck for the envelope he received, filled with thank you letters from the third graders who received the dictionaries during his visit.
 
Kevin Oates gave a Happy Buck for his table!
 
Sharon Garland gave 10 Happy Bucks for her great experience in setting up her dictionary delivery at the Feinstein Elementary School. She is looking forward to her visit!!
 
New member Trish Cirelli gave 5 Happy Bucks for her husband who adopted her twins 3 days before they were married.
 
A guest, Charles Newton, gave a Happy Buck for seeing friends he has known for 40 years.
 
Rob Black gave a Happy Buck for his daughter who turned 30 today!
 
DISMANTLING THE
SCHOOL TO PRISON PIPELINE
Nondas Voll introduced our speaker, Jordan Seaberry, Honorary Chair of Reading Across Rhode Island. Jordan is Director of Public Policy and Advocacy, Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence.
 
Jordan was born in Chicago and received his BFA from RISD. He is an aspiring artist known for his abstract paintings immortalizing Providence’s murder victims. He was recently honored by Providence Monthly as a recipient of 10 to Watch. He talked about his family and their roots and struggles in Mississippi. His work focuses on dismantling the school to prison pipeline, removing barriers to reentry for people coming out of prison, empowering victims of crime and challenging the normalization of gun violence.
