BIG NUMBERS FROM THE GALA!
The numbers are in from the Legends for Literacy Gala and they add up to an unmistakable success:
- Gross Revenue (what we took in) ~$92,000
- Costs (what we spent) ~$19,000
- NET (to support foundation philanthropy and club operations) $71,000+
Imagination, participation and support from many club members, led by co-chairs Pete Brock and Susan Kearney-Kaplan, made it possible.
Teaching materials purchased by our Childhood Literacy Initiative are already in use at Harry Kizirian Elementary School (as you may have seen in the video) and the foundation is sponsoring a professional training session for Kizirian teachers on Nov. 6.

Blustery wet weather took Thursday’s after hours meeting indoors at the new Plant City, where the manager told us about the concept for the totally vegan eatery. Attendees got a view of the pedestrian bridge through the window but no one ventured out. Thanks to Connie Donnelly and Mary Brewster, who were responsible for everything except the weather.
