CAN YOUR GENES HELP
BEAT ALZHEIMER’S?

Dr.Jessica Alber, a cognitive neuroscientist at Butler Hospital and assistant professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University’s Alpert Medical School, reported on new developments that may lead to better prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

A team from Butler Hospital set up a facility at the meeting allowing members and guests to assist the research by volunteering for a swab check that registered them for the "Gene Match" project. The swab samples will be checked for the presence of the gene APOE4, which is a risk factor for Alzheimer’s. PP John McGinn was one of 17 people who joined GeneMatch at the meeting.

If you were not able to take part last week, you can learn about GeneMatch at https://www.endalznow.org/why-join or register and have a swab kit sent to your home at https://www.endalznow.org/genematch
