President Art began the meeting with a moment of silence for the passing of Cy Wyche and Susan Blicker, beloved former Providence Rotary members. Information on memorial services will be forthcoming.

Don Saracen shared a quote from Past Rotary International President Hugh Archer about Rotary's vision and the “pleasing paradox when we give time and talent to help someone else…when we give dignity to others we grow in dignity ourselves."
ANNOUNCEMENTS, Etc.
Former member Ed Queenan brought a flag from his new club in Colorado and received one of ours in return.
Clara Decerbo, a former Rotary Youth Exchange student, was officially inducted into Providence Rotary as a new member. Kris David served as Clara’s sponsor and Clara has pledged to help re-involve Providence Rotary in the Youth Exchange Program.
Walt Adamowicz recently had a back procedure and is recovering well.
To help everyone enjoy the Independence Day holiday period, there will be no Rotary meeting on Monday, July 1.
The board has approved President Art's nomination of PP John McGinn to a five-year term as a Trustee of the Providence Rotary Charities Foundation.
HAPPY BUCKS
Margaret Kane did stand-up comedy for the Leadership RI gong show and had a wonderful experience!
Don Saracen’s grandson recently graduated middle school and was named class valedictorian (an honor, Don mentioned, he did not receive in middle school!). Don was also recently elected to serve as a Trustee of St. Elizabeth Community.
Nondas Voll’s two grandsons recently graduated from high school.
Jim Gilcreast was happy to have Providence Rotary Charities Foundation recipients in attendance. He was also happy to report that he successfully held the door for his wife, making him a card carrying ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out).
Maxine Cohen was happy for Father's Day and her husband Ave's birthday.
Paul Segal was happy to have Foundation recipients in attendance.
Pete Brock was happy for a great Father's Day.
Kris David was happy to be able to bring us a $1,500 District Grant to help support our dictionary project!
Anthony Landi’s daughter won state championships for lacrosse.
Sharon Garland was happy to have Foundation recipients in attendance and congratulated Don on being named a St. Elizabeth Community Trustee.
Bill DiBiasio remembered Cy and Susan fondly. Bill was also happy to attend a Hampton, New Hampshire, Rotary Club meeting last week where he was the surprise speaker (and, of course, talked the entire time about Providence Rotary!).
Tiffany Bumgardner-Scheffler announced that she is 16 weeks pregnant!
Big Brothers, Big Sisters were happy to have recruited new mentors at Rhode Island Pride over the weekend and were also happy to be named one of RI’s best places to work by Providence Business News!
Art Norwalk gave his sincere thanks to the Providence Rotary Charities Foundation.

FOUNDATION GRANT AWARDS
Paul Segal led the presentation of grant awards, and thanked Foundation Trustees and Administrative Assistant Joanne Paterson for all of their hard work.
This year, $52,500 in grants were given out to the following 34 nonprofit organizations:
