INSPIRATION by Rev. Ralph Barlow
Natural calamities, such as the current COVID-19, call forth the best from us as Rotarians. The concluding lines of Carl Sandburg’s "The People, Yes." say it perfectly:
"The people know the salt of the sea
and the strength of the winds
lashing the corners of the earth .
The people take the earth
as a tomb of rest and a cradle of hope.
Who else speaks for the Family of Humankind?
They are in tune and step
with constellations of universal law."

ROTARIANS ANSWER THE CALL
IN ALL KINDS OF EMERGENCIES
During World War II members of our club stepped up to donate blood. What can we be doing today while keeping our families safe?

DIGITAL HAPPY BUCKS
Don Saracen
I’ll do five Happy Bucks for the trip Cherie and I took last month and fortunately returned before the virus outbreak!
We spent a wonderful week with our oldest son Mike and his wife Paula and their 14-year-old twins Ani & Enzo.

The first day I attended the amazing Rotary Club of San Diego -- Club #33 founded 1911 same year as ours. They are the third largest club in the world with over 500+ members. Check ‘em out at https://www.sandiegorotary.club/. Over 300 attended the luncheon meeting which is a normal for them.

We exchanged banners plus I won a bottle of wine and a cell phone holder as having traveled the farthest distance. Very friendly group where I sat with two past DGs and the DG elect. All in all a great experience."

Luis Lourenco
“I am happy that everyone in my family is doing well and that I am still able to work and be productive.”

Anthony Landi
“I have a happy buck for spending the weekend at home with my family!”

Erica Busillo Adams
“I have a happy buck for my extraordinary colleagues at Providence Public Library who have been hard at work figuring out how to continue to serve our community virtually and how to create opportunities for those patrons who don't have access to the internet.”

Bryan Cook
“I’m happy for technology that has allowed me to work from home without missing a beat as well as for some unexpected but very much appreciated family time. Add $2 to my tab.“

Phil Gossel
“1. I'm happy that the number of cases of coronavirus is very low at Brown and the students are returning home.
2.  I completed a survey for Inspiring Minds, which asked how the volunteers could help during the school shutdown. I suggested that we could pick up books and study material and deliver the items to the student homes and not have direct contact with the student or family."

Anthony Hollingshead
“A thanks to the governor, Dr. Alexander-Scott and Dept. of Health for their excellent work and keeping us informed on the Covid-19 matter. The state’s website is informative and up to date. Rhode Island is doing a fine job with this crisis.”

Caroline Naughton Rumowicz
“I have five happy bucks for my home health team stepping up to the plate to make sure our clients in the community are safe and receiving the necessary services!”

Kris David
“Sad  buck - The District Conference has been cancelled due to the possible health risks to our fellow Rotarians. The committee has been working with Governor Steve Albright for almost two years to prepare this annual event. I have been honored to be the Chair of the Conference and thank all those who had worked on the committee especially Art Norwalk and Richard Applebaum.

Wendy Marcus
“We’re happy we have a back yard and that little flowers are popping up and that two rabbits are also enjoying our back yard."

For next week’s newsletter President-elect Bryan Cook suggests sending in any selfies or videos of how you and your family are making the best of social distancing. Plus all your Happy Bucks, of course!
