ANNOUNCEMENTS, Etc.
We’re having a special meeting this week (Aug. 20)
: members are invited to help assemble school supply kits for all 24 classrooms at Harry Kizirian Elementary School. With funding from Blue Marble Brands – a collection of natural, organic and specialty food brands headquartered in Providence – and the Providence Rotary Charities Foundation, we have purchased a lot of the things that teachers and students need but the school can’t afford. When lunch is over we’ll pack them into bags provided by Amica Insurance (thanks, Bryan) and deliver them to the school.
 
President Art announced that on Sunday afternoon on August 26th Bill and Kris David will host an end of summer party at their Warwick residence. The party will be Pot Luck and BYOB.
 
Art also announced that Bryan Cook is home from the hospital.

Geoff Gaunt for an upcoming trip to China to visit his daughter who is working there.
 
Margaret Kane for the Red Sox sweep of the Yankee series.
 
Don Saracen for donating furniture to the Salvation Army that he bought 49 years ago and for his 12 year old grandson in San Diego who built a computer.
 
10kSB: BUILDING BUSINESSES
IN RHODE ISLAND
 
Karriem Kanston and Elizabeth Russo spoke on the "10,000 Small Businesses" program in Rhode Island.
 
This program is funded by the Goldman Sachs Foundation and is administered by Community College Of Rhode Island.
 
The Rhode Island program has been given a grant of 10 million dollars for five years of operation (5 million for training and 5 million for loans). It consists of a 12 week series of business clinics to help businesses grow and gain access to capital. The program is free and open to business owners who have been in operation for 2 or more years and have a minimum annual revenue of $100,000.
 
President-elect Geoff Gaunt recently completed the program and said it was very worthwhile for his company.
