Speaker
Scott Wolf CEO of Grow Smart RI

Grow Smart Rhode Island is an organization designed to facilitate communication and collaboration and networking to revitalize Main Streets across the state. Grow Smart RI is an advocacy group focused on policy reform to affect the smart growth of downtowns across the state focusing on improved access to services and increased activity that comes with well thought out urban areas.
Scott spoke at some length about the effects appropriate Zoning and robust transportation can have in reaching this goal. The organization has had an active hand in expanding housing options by leveraging changes in the tax regime citing the organizations success with converting industrial space to housing as in the case of the Locomotive Works on the west side.
Scott took the last 10 minutes for Q/A with robust questions regarding commuter rail enhancements, the value of existing bus service, and collaborating with local department heads to encourage urban planning with an emphasis on increasing daily activity, by promoting walking rather than auto transport. Scott welcomed Rotarians to sign up for his newsletter and to attend available workshops.
