INSPIRATION
Paul Segal gave a well stated salute to all the caregivers risking their lives to take care of us.
NEW MEMBER INDUCTION
Pres. Geoff inducted Karen Mueller as the newest member of our club. Karen moved to Providence several years ago from Southboro, MA where she was introduced to Rotary by friends. She was intrigued by the service aspect and upon moving to Providence and with a reduced workload, sought to get connected to Rotary. Karen has already been active in our club meetings and events and we warmly welcome her into formal membership.

MEMBER TALK: MARCO MARINELLI
ACTIVE ROTARIAN IN ITALY
BEFORE COMING TO U.S.
Marco Marinelli told us about his life before and after coming to the U.S. from Italy. Marco was born and raised in Gualdo Tadino, Italy which is in Umbria in the central part of the country. Gualdo has a population of about 15,000 which is similar to Marco’s new home in Barrington.
In Italy, Marco was a practicing lawyer, working in the telecom industry before becoming corporate counsel for a company that produced concrete.
Marco met his wife, Lynn – a Barrington native -- while she was in Italy learning about her Italian heritage. Lynn took an Italian language class from Marco’s sister-in-law and the rest is history. Marco and Lynn live in Barrington with their three fur babies, Calvin, Sophie, and Lexi.
In 2005, Marco joined the Rotary Club of Gualdo Tadino. He became secretary of the club in 2008 and president in 2010-11. One of the main service projects for the Gualdo club was to design and build a fitness trail for public use.
Gualdo Tadino was the first Rotary club in the area to organize and hold computer classes for the blind so they could learn computer skills for personal and employment enhancement.
The club also worked in concert with several other clubs to host camps for disabled people. Marco led an entertainment project for the camps where he and a good friend would play for the attendees.
Marco loves to play the piano and gets great satisfaction using music to entertain others. He misses his piano in Italy but does get to play at Roger Williams Univ. where his wife teaches.
Since emigrating to the U.S., Marco has obtained a masters degree in sustainable tourism. He believes there is strong potential for this industry worldwide. Sustainable tourism is a benefit for both the environment as well as local communities and economies.
