President-Elect, Pete Brock presided over the meeting. President Kris David was attending the funeral for past District Governor, Joe Clancy. Pete asked for a moment of silence for Joe Clancy.

Pete recognized Rob Black for all he does for our meetings and for our club.
Visiting Rotarian was Michael Durand from a South County Club and is interested in joining our club.

Liz Messier announced the upcoming Rotary After Dark event at Barker Playhouse on Thursday, Nov 30 at 6:30 pm for a reception followed by a 7:30 pm performance of a wonderful Holiday musical, She Loves Me. Pizza, snacks, cheese and cracker crudité and wine will be served. The cost is $10 per person. Liz asked for help from Rotarians to set everything up at 5 pm and clean up after the performance. You can sign up at our meetings or you can pay at the door.
There is a follow up meeting for this past October’s Legends of Literacy on Tuesday, November 21 at 1 pm after our Rotary Meeting.
December 5th is our annual Lunch with the San Miguel Students. Bob Murphy has organized this event for the past 20 years.
Happy Bucks
Led by Pete Brock in memory of Margaret Kane.
- Pete gave 5 Happy Bucks for the beautiful Fall weather and enjoying time out in nature with his dog, Jaeger. He is also happy about working with the football program at UMASS in Amherst, and happy that his friend Tully is here for the meeting.
- Rob Black gave 5 Happy Bucks for missing next week’s meeting because he is going on a cruise from Lisbon and ends in Miami with stops on the way.
- Immediate Past President, Steve Hug gave a Happy Buck for starring in an Independent Film about aliens. He is the lead. He has had to endure lots of interrogations, fights etc. resulting in a bumped head from a scene in a Corvette.
Speaker
Pete Brock introduced our speaker, Tully Cameron Banta-Cain who is from San Francisco/Bay area and went to school at the University of California/Berkeley. He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the seventh round on the 2003 draft. He earned two super bowl rings when he played for The Patriots. He has been retired from the NFL in 2012.
Tully was excited to talk to us and wanted to share what he has been up to since he retired in 2012. His father’s biggest quote was “The man who said he never had a chance, never took a chance.” He tried acting without success, then coaching without enthusiasm, but started a high school for football players in Canada called Canada Prep.
Besides having life struggles, he has gotten into music as part of
The Players Choir that was in America’s Got Talent and made it to the Semi-Finals.
He also is launching the new
Beach Football League with The Beach Classic from February 20 to 25, 2024, and a league launch in May of 2024.
