Mike Kelly gave us this inspiration for Veterans Day.
“Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of all those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. To every veteran, past and present, we say thank you for your service to our country and for helping to protect our freedoms. Your commitment and bravery deserve our deepest gratitude and respect.
Often overlooked in our Veterans Day appreciation are those on the other end – the mothers, fathers, husbands, wives and children left behind when their loved ones are deployed overseas.
Approximately 800,000 American men and women served in Afghanistan at one time or another during the longest war in American history.
This Veterans Day, let’s pause from our busy schedules and salute by means of heartfelt appreciation to all our veterans, living and dead, those on the battlefield and those who have cared for them as brothers, and may we remember as well those who, in the absence of these loved ones, maintained homes and families worthy of their return.”
