Meeting Date:  February 10, 2026

Reporter:  Sam New

President Bill Applegate called the meeting to order.

Pledge

John Adams led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Inspiration

Inspiration by Jane Berkowitz.  Jane attended the service honoring the late George Babcock.  George held many leadership roles and lived a selfless life of service.  George made a significant mark on the Rotary Club, and on the Greater Providence Community.

New Member Inductions

Heide Abelli and Dr. Victor Pricolo were inducted as Family members.  Both gave a short intro to the club with Victor mentioning his father founded a Rotary Club in Italy and now he can give back to the organization.  Heide mentioned her company dealing in education and is eager to help with our Literacy Initiative.

Announcements

Holly Applegate provided Valentine cards to be delivered to the Veterans’ Hospital.  Each Rotarian signed five cards, and the cards were delivered to the VA Hospital on Wednesday morning by Jane Berkowitz and Holly & Bill Applegate.
Liz Messier reminded us that tent suppers are upcoming, and that to date, we have seven hosts.  The suppers are designed to raise money for exploited and trafficked women in Nepal.  Talk to Mary Brewster about current seat availability.  There is a sign up link on our website's homepage.

On Thursday March 19, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee musical will be performed by The Players at the Barker Playhouse on Benefit Street.  Talk to Liz Messier for more information.

On March 8 at the Squantum Association, our district 7950 is hosting a women’s only event to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Speakers

Jacy Settles, Director of Major Gifts for the Ronald McDonald Charities of New England, provided an overview of the RMCH Charities mission and impact.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England, Inc. a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that serves families from around the United States and the world through core programs: Ronald McDonald Houses, Ronald McDonald Hospital Family Rooms and Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles. RMHCNE provides a comprehensive and supportive network of resources to families of children receiving treatment for pediatric illnesses at hospitals and other medical facilities in Boston, Providence and throughout the region.
Jacy provided specific examples of families that RMHC has been able to support. Many of these stories are tear-jerking, but heartwarming indeed.  If you’ve ever had a child with a life-threatening condition (the reporter has), you understand the stress and emotional trauma that this involves.  It is wonderful that RMHCNE is providing this robust support.

Jacy’s colleague, Molly Ross outlined ways that anyone can get involved.
