Friendship
Rotary vision: To harness the great power of friendship to help do the world’s work.
Friendship was the foundation rock on which Rotary was built and tolerance is the element which holds it together. (1910-1912, Paul P. Harris, Rotary Founder)
International Understanding
The best antidote for international fear is international understanding; the best way to cultivate international understanding is through business and social intercourse (1928, Pacific Rotary Conference, Tokyo, Japan)

Strategic Planning

Kris David gave a history of Rotary Club of Providence's involvement in the community as a prelude to the strategy session at the tables.
  • Education services provided to the community. Services to the local boys club to help boys stay in school.
  • Stanley Sorrento organized a membership drive to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the club. 111 members were asked to sponsor 1 member each. 67 members inducted into the Club.
  • President Ken Conde. Largest fundraiser—Million Dollar Challenge for Hunger raised. 1,422 clubs answered his challenge to feed the hungry by raising more than $2 million of their own.  Feinstein challenge—would match all funds up to $1 million.
  • Street painting festival in downtown Providence. Students from K-College participated
  • Dictionaries provided to children in grade 3 for many years before they had access to computers.
  • Richard Leone led the refurbishment of an ambulance that was filled with supplies donated by many clubs in the area and delivered to a club in Argentina.
  • During Richard Applebaum’s presidency, club members traveled to the Dominican Republic to deliver water filters in Esperanza and the surrounding area. Dictionaries were also presented to teachers who taught English.
  • Our ongoing Literacy Committee Initiative. Reading aloud to children at our Providence partner schools; providing school supplies
Discussions were held at members’ tables to come up with strategic plans. Each table had a recorder who captured members’ ideas which will be shared with the group at a future meeting.

  • If there is more than one date that works for you, that would be helpful to know.
  • You may bring a non-club member as a guest.
  • The suggested donation is $50 a person, but please give whatever works for you.
Your hosts will be collecting checks at the supper, and they will be grouped and sent out as a package from our Rotary Club. Donations from non-attendees are also welcome and can be sent to Mary  Brewster.

Mary is actively looking for more hosts so that more of the Club can attend.
Thank you for your participation! It’s a great opportunity for fellowship and to support an important international project. See more info on the project here.
