Rotary Club of Providence

The Providence Rotary Charities Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Rotary Club of Providence.  It is a public foundation, tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3), administered by a Board of Trustees drawn from the membership of the Rotary Club of Providence.
The Foundation supports charitable activities that effectively advance the broad goals of Rotary International - health, education, and the alleviation of poverty - by awarding program grants each spring.

Grant Policies
As a general rule, the Providence Rotary Charities Foundation awards grants to 501(c)(3) organizations that are located within and/or primarily serve residents of the City of Providence.  Grants are awarded to support operations of specific programs.
Grants are not awarded:
  1. to individuals.
  2. to entities that redistribute funds to other organizations.
  3. as minor contributions to large-scale campaigns or projects.
  4. to large national organizations.
  5. for purchase of tickets to charitable events.
  6. for overall agency administration.
  7. where participation in religious activities or membership in a specific religious group is a condition for receiving benefits of the agency or program.
Application Process
Application deadline for awards is extended to May 17, 2021.

Alternatively, you may submit one copy by postal mail of:
  1. a cover sheet stating name of organization; name, title, and full contact information for the person responsible for the application; amount of grant sought; name and brief description of the program to be funded; annual agency budget total and staff size; names of agency executives and board members.
  2. narrative application (maximum three pages) including history and mission of the organization; description and purpose of the program to be funded (noting whether it is new or continuation); how the program advances the goals of Rotary; measures used to determine program effectiveness; projected impact of the requested Foundation grant on the program, agency, and beneficiaries.
  3. copy of the organization's 501(c)(3) IRS letter.
  4. most recent audit or Form 990.
  5. maximum of three pieces of additional supporting material at the applicant's discretion.

Decision Process
Applications will be reviewed by the Trustees of the Providence Rotary Charities Foundation and applicants will be notified of their decision during the month of September.  Receipt of a grant in any one year does not guarantee future awards.  Denial of a grant in any year does not preclude or prejudice application in future years.
Grant winners will be invited to accept their awards at a special meeting of the Rotary Club of Providence (date to be confirmed).
