Literacy -- the ability to read and understand -- is critical to the life chances of every child in Providence.
Literacy is required for nearly every job in today’s economy, and tomorrow’s. Literacy is a key ingredient in citizenship.
But most of the public school students of Providence are not achieving literacy today.
That’s why the Rotary Club of Providence is devoting the bulk of its philanthropic and volunteer resources to supporting the city’s students and teachers in a multi-year Childhood Literacy Initiative.
More than 5,000 students will benefit from initiative activities in the 2021-22 school year alone. Your sponsorship of the 2021 Legends for Literacy Gala will support these and future activities to offer better futures for the children of Providence.
